About the Quilts

There are 6 sizes of quilts, from crib to kingsize. As each differs in design, size or colour, there is a wide variety, and most in the collection are "one-off".

Workmanship is to a high standard. All applique and all quilting is done by hand, achieving 7-9 stitches per inch (in "quilt-speak"). Each of the larger quilts takes 3 months to complete, and all are subject to rigorous quality control throughout the process.

Cotton fabrics are used for the quilt tops and backing, with polyester batting. The quilts are washed by hand on completion.

I have given measurements for each quilt, because you will notice that, due to design variations, they do not conform to size "standards". Nor do beds - so, depending on the look you want, it is wise to measure your bed before purchasing the quilt.

A word about "lap" quilts:- they also make great "throws" for sofas or beds, playmats for children, wall-hangings, or table covers.

Be creative when decorating with quilts - they can enhance the look of any home decor, whether traditional or contemporary, they can be a focal point or a feet-warmer, but mostly they are meant to be enjoyed!

LAUNDRY HINTS: The quilts are machine-washable, but as with any cotton fabric, fading and wear will occur if frequently washed. Always use a mild laundry soap and a gentle or hand-wash cycle in a machine that is large enough to accomodate the quilt. (Commercial laundries often have extra- large machines available). Preferably, hang the quilt to line-dry. Alternatively, quilts can be successfully dry-cleaned.
